Innovative Management Development Programme Provides Bespoke Training for the Energy Sector

The second and third classes of the Management Development Programme (MDP) graduated yesterday, 3 July, at the programme’s graduation ceremony held in the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha. A joint initiative of Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) and PricewaterhouseCoopers Qatar (PwC), the annual programme is part of an ongoing strategy to address the needs of the Qatari and GCC business community within the Energy Sector.

The programme comprises of five weeks of training, delivered to participants by senior management consultants and internationally acclaimed professors from PwC over a period of 4 months.  The course modules cover a range of topics such as corporate finance, risk management, tax and corporate governance. 

Guest speakers on this year’s programme have included Jan-Hein Jesse, a Partner from PwC Netherlands who flew in to Doha for the programme to discuss his global experience of mergers and acquisitions within the industry. 

“QFBA is proud to successfully deliver the management development program for the 3rd time jointly with PWC, we are committed to develop Qatar’s future leaders in diverse sectors to help build a sustainable knowledge based economy for our nation,” said QFBA’s CEO Dr. Abdulaziz Al Horr. 

“PwC is committed to supporting Qatar’s 2030 National Vision by assisting to enhance the skills and capabilities of its people. The energy sector is ripe for the expansion of the next generation of management. This unique programme, led by Professor Jan Willem Velthuijsen from PwC Netherlands, is the first step in delivering the learning associated with this advancement.  The MDP provides the energy industry with a specific programme that addresses and increases the skills of professionals working within this sector,” said Stuart Carter, a Director from PwC Doha who co-ordinates the programme. 

The participants of this year’s programme include high-performing employees from Tasweeq and Shell.
