Last Wednesday evening, a meeting was organised by the Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA), where its department heads met with the Rt Hon The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Roger Gifford and 12 affluent executives from major London- based companies.

Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) held a graduation ceremony for the first batch of 8 Qatari executives who completed the ‘Aspiration for Success’ (AFS) Qatari leadership development program.

QFBA and Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) are holding a graduation ceremony for 25 professionals. The graduates have successfully completed the recent QFMA Program Module 1 in ‘Introduction to Securities and Investments’ which is licensed by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI).

The Academy has signed an exclusive partnership with KPMG, a big 4 accounting firm providing audit, tax and advisory services to provide International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) training programmes in Qatar.

The launch presented QFBA, the only Qatari business training institute, with the unique opportunity to launch their 2013 Program, reposition QFBA with its 3 strategic roles to distinguished guests and the media as well as highlight the role QFBA plays in building human capital for the financial sector in line with Qatar’s 2030 vision.

This MoU will help support the fast-paced growth of the banking and finance industry in Qatar and the region; it will also develop high quality human resources for the financial sector in Qatar and the region.

Highlighted in the discussions were the global energy demand developments as well as the biggest challenges faced by the Oil & Gas (O&G) industry; the fight for talent in the Energy market globally; the imperative and barriers of international co-operation and Qatar's challenge between maintaining its leading position in the O&G industry versus its high efforts to diversify its economy in line with the 2030 National Vision. Panelists also provided their insights of the impact of the euro-zone crisis and the impact that political instability in Arabic countries has had on the oil and gas market.
